As you may know, most of Sri Lanka is under the threat of Cyclone Ditwah. One critical challenge faced in a flood a situation is the access to drinking water. Most villages in Sri Lanka depend on well water for their day to day consumption. Flooding of wells makes the well water unusable. Drinking polluted water brings the second wave of disaster through deceases.
API Brothers Canada is an established non-profit organization helping Sri Lankans for the past 5 years. We have managed to source 1.5 Liter bottles of potable water to be distributed to the hard-hit areas in Sri Lanka. We have arranged to distribute these through the tri-forces disaster support channels in Sri Lanka as well. The first consignment of 2,000 bottles have been deployed already.
If you are interested and would like to spare a small contribution, here are some options:
1. For $25, you can sponsor 60 bottles
2. For $50, you can sponsor 120 bottles
3. For $100, you can sponsor 240 bottles
Each bottle contains 1.5 liters and costs CAD 0.41 and is sufficient for 2 people to survive for a day.
Our target is to provide 10,000 bottles as a start and continue based on the need if possible. We are confident that the target can be achieved with your support.
Please use one of the following links to send in your sponsorship.
Please note that we will be organizing to send other items in the future as well. When the water levels recede, the needs of the people also change, as we progress with this change, we will let you know how else you can contribute to this cause.
